Wyoming High School Football
Cody football player Grady McCarten has decided to join the Northern State University program in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In his senior year, he rushed for 590 yards and 9 touchdowns with 2 receiving touchdowns. McCartern rang up 88 yards rushing and a touchdown in the 3A State Championship game vs. Star Valley and was named 3A All-State as a running back. On defense, he was in on 37 tackles, including 10 for loss.
McCartern had a monster season at the running back spot in his junior year with 1199 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns and a pair of receiving TDs. He was named 3A’s Offensive Player of the Year, an All-State selection at RB. He was limited to 7 yards rushing in the 2023 State Championship game vs. Star Valley due to an injury. On defense in his junior season, McCarten had 47 tackles from his linebacker spot, 9 for loss.
McCartern is enjoying a great season in 3A basketball in the 2024-25 campaign averaging 17 points a game for the Broncs with a 31-point effort vs. Powell and a 29-point game vs. Douglas.
Northern State is a Division II institution that competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
