VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton golf team will travel to Annapolis, Md., over the weekend to compete in Navy’s invitational called, “The Goat.”
The Bearcats’ last competition at the Howard/USF Intercollegiate, Sean Shen had a career day at Manor Country Club, shooting 65/5-under par during the final round. That is the junior’s career-best score over 18 holes. It also ranks as the second-lowest round relative to par in program history. The record is 6-under par, held by Jake Katz at the 2010 Lafayette Invitational and Gray Potter at the 2015 Missouri Invitational. Historically, it was just the ninth time that a Binghamton golfer shot at least 5-under par in a round.
“The Goat” will be located at Naval Academy Golf Club and will feature fifteen teams. Those schools are Barry, Bucknell, Cal Baptist, Colgate, Columbia, Georgetown, George Washington, Howard, Lafayette, Loyola Maryland, Maryland, Navy, Pacific and William & Mary.
The tournament at the par 71 course will consist of three rounds. The first two will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start. The third round will start on Sunday at 8 a.m., with double tee times.
