KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University men’s golf team was selected 10th in the 2024 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Coaches Poll released Monday (Sept. 9).
Central Oklahoma received nine of the 10 first-place votes and 90 points to earn the preseason No. 1 ranking. Central Missouri garnered the other first-place vote and 80 points to land at No. 2, with Rogers State securing 65 points to come in at No. 3.
Missouri Southern with 59 points and Northeastern State with 56 points rounded out the top five spots.
Pitt State received 17 points in the poll to earn the No. 10 ranking as the Gorillas return to intercollegiate play for the first time in 10 years after the program was suspended following the 2013-14 season.
Head coach Nick Long welcomes a 10-member squad into the season split between one graduate student, four juniors, a sophomore and four freshman.
The Gorillas have begun the season with “The Mule” in Warrensburg, Mo., on the campus of the University of Central Missouri today and will conclude the tournament on Tuesday (Sept. 10).
