MADISON, Ill. – SIUE golf leads a field of 18 teams after two rounds of play at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational. The Cougars are seeking their second straight tournament title and their sixth overall.
SIUE is 15-under and lead Bradley and Wichita State by four strokes. Lindenwood is fourth and six strokes back of the Cougars.
Alex Eickhoff leads the Cougars at seven-under. He is tied for fifth. His second-round score of 66 tied his career low set last year. Brady Kaufmann is just a stroke back in seventh place. He fired back-to-back rounds of 68. Brent Reintjes is tied for 14th at four-under. Preston Bily is tied for 39th at two-over. Max Bruening is seven-over and tied for 61st.
Bradley’s Connor Hamm (-11) leads the individual race. South Dakota’s Max Schmidtke is one stroke back in second place.
Four Cougars are playing as individuals, including three freshmen playing in their first collegiate tournament. Freshman Parker Bruening is two-over and tied for 45th. Will Simpson, playing in his first tournament for SIUE is tied for 61st. He is seven-over. Freshman Hayden Moore is eight-over and is tied for 67th. Fellow freshman Thomas Hereau is tied for 95th.
Tuesday’s final round gets underway at 8:15 at Gateway National Golf Links.
