VILLANOVA, Pa. – All eleven Wildcat golfers were in action between two tournaments today. The day began at 8:30 a.m. as the five ‘Cats that are in Westfield, N.J. for the Georgetown Intercollegiate teed off. Shortly after, the other six, down in Cape May Court House, N.J., competing in the Chestnut Hill Invitational got underway.
After two rounds of play at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, the ‘Cats are in 11th place at 43 over par. Currently, Campbell University is in the lead at even par.
The five Wildcats competing at the Chestnut Hill Invitational at Union League National Golf Club are all competing as individuals.
GEORGETOWN INTERCOLLEGIATE (PAR 72, 6,950 YARDS)
Ryan Pamer stands tied for 17th after the first two rounds at five over par (147). He birdied three of the back nine en route to finishing one under par through round one (71). Pamer shot a 78 (+6) on his second time around Echo Lake.
Matt Zerfass shot six over (78) on both trips around the course on day one. He is currently tied for 38th place.
Vibhav Alokam finished day one even with Zerfass in 38th. He started out birdying four of his first six holes played, finishing round one two over (74). Alokam achieved the ‘Cats only eagle of the day on a par five on his second trip around and shot an 82 (+10). He finished the day twelve over (154).
Peter Barros shot +14 in his first tournament of the year. He shot 80 in the first round (+8) and 78 (+6) in the second. He ends day one tied for 46th place.
Ian Love completed day one at +21. He is currently in 59th place.
The Wildcats will tee off from 8:00-8:40 a.m. tomorrow for round three. They will tee off every 10 minutes in reverse of the order in which they finished: Love, Barros, Alokam, Zerfass, Pamer.
CHESTNUT HILL INVITATIONAL (PAR 72, 6,885 YARDS)
Joshua Lavely shot seven over (79) through the first 18 at Union National. He is currently tied for sixth place.
Jackson Lehner finished round one nine over par (81). He also added a birdie on the back nine. Lehner is tied for 11th place.
Nathan Marion led the individual ‘Cats with two birdies. He shot +14 (86) and is tied for 21st.
Gus Vickers shot 18 over (90) in the first round of his Wildcat debut. He is tied for 34th place.
Vimal Alokam finished day one in 41st place, he shot +20 (92) in the first round.
VU will have all golfers tee off between 9:50-10:20 a.m. in Cape May Court House tomorrow. Vimal Alokam will start off at 9:50 a.m. followed by Gus Vickers at 10:00 a.m. Lavely, Lehner, and Marion are in a group together that start at 10:20 a.m.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats have one more round in each tournament, taking place tomorrow. After this, they will travel up to Glen Cove, N.Y. to take part in the Nassau Invitational hosted by Long Island University.
