A pod of dolphin balloons floated through the central mall at CSU Channel Islands on Monday morning, towed along by a parade of golf carts as the university kicked off its first-ever homecoming week.
The golf cart parade and a pep rally started the party on Monday. A week-long slate of activities includes a Wednesday movie night and a costumed sunset kayak expedition at the university’s Oxnard boating center on Friday.
Also on Friday: a performance from Saturday Night Live alumnus Jay Pharoah. The free show starts at 7 p.m. in the university’s Grand Salon, but seating is limited and students and alumni will be given preference.
The week closes on Saturday back at the Central Mall with an afternoon street fair, car show and performance from rock band Ozomatli. A complete schedule and details are available at www.csuci.edu/homecoming/.
