EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE golf will open its season at home for the first time since 2014 as the SIUE Dolenc Invitational (Sep. 9-10) will open a slate of 10 regular season tournaments for the Cougars.
The 11th annual Dolenc Invitational will take place at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois, where the Cougars enjoyed a record-setting two days in 2023 to win the tournament title. The tournament marks the 13th year SIUE has hosted a home tournament.
“I am really excited about our schedule this year,” Brown said. “Leading off with the Dolenc will be exciting to get everyone on the course right away.”
SIUE will play four other tournaments in the fall portion of the schedule. Three of the tournaments mark return engagements for the team beginning with UT Martin’s Grover Page Invitational (Sep. 16-17). The Cougars also will return to Air Force’s Gene Miranda Invitational (Sep. 21-23), Wichita State’s Grier Jones Shocker Invitational (Oct. 6-8). The fall schedule concludes with SIUE’s first trip to Little Rock’s Everett Buick GMC Classic (Oct. 14-15).
The Cougars resume the schedule with three more return tournaments. The Spring schedule begins at the Loyola (Maryland) Intercollegiate (Feb. 16-18). SIUE will return to the Bandon Dunes Championship (March 9-11) for the fourth year in a row and then travel to Missouri State’s Twin Oaks Intercollegiate (March 18-19). SIUE will take part in the Golfweek Invitational (March 30-April 1) and then wrap up the regular season at the Carpenter/Chaney Match Play Event, co-hosted by UT Martin and Morehead State. The Cougars won the event last season.
“We’ve added a few new events at Little Rock and Golfweek event in Myrtle Beach which will be fun,” Brown continued. “Giving the guys an opportunity to play all over the country and see teams from many different conferences is what we are trying to do here at SIUE. I truly believe this competition prepares us very well for the OVC Championships in April.”
The Ohio Valley Conference Championship will return to Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri (April 20-23).
