What does it take to change one’s fortune? For this American girl stuck at Doha airport, it was an unexpected interaction with Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer. American entrepreneur Paul-Bernard Jaroslawsk recently shared an incredible experience of his younger sister, who could not get a single seat to travel from Doha to the US but luckily landed a business class ticket.
In his recent post on X, American entrepreneur Paul-Bernard Jaroslawsk shared his younger sister’s story, who was travelling from Doha to Chicago on standby. Travelling standby on flights allows passengers to pre-purchase tickets with an option to make same-day changes to travel time if seats are available on their desired flights.
Although the option provides passengers with the flexibility of travelling at a changed time, much depends upon the airline and the availability of seats. At times, standby passengers may end up waiting hours to get a seat on their desired flight.
Paul-Bernard Jaroslawsk’s sister was also in a similar situation. However, an unexpected event happened at the Doha airport, turning the whole situation into a pleasant experience for her.
Paul-Bernard Jaroslawsk shared the whole incident on X on a thread. “Crazy story my sister had traveling today. My little sister flys standby around the world for dirt cheap cause our father worked at Eva Air Cargo for 20+ years. Today she was in Doha, Qatar stuck at the airport. There were seats open on the flight from Doha to Chicago,” wrote the American entrepreneur on X.
In his X post, he further explained that his younger sister could not get a ticket because airlines weren’t taking additional passengers due to weight management. She tried multiple airlines, including Qatar Airways and received the same option. She got really anxious, nervous, and worried as there was no hope of returning home on the same day. Moreover, she hadn’t slept all night because of her journey from Bangkok to Doha. At that time something unexpected happened.
“A man walked up to her and asked her why she is so sad. My sister told him everything about the situation and he told her “go to the business lounge and everything will be okay.” Turns out he was the CEO of Qatar Airways Badr Mohammed Al Meer and he hooked her up with a business class seat to JFK. An employee at Qatar gave my sister her ticket and told her she is very lucky b/c he rarely walks around the airport like that,” read the X post.
