Already ruled out for the Week 9 matchup with the Washington Commanders, the Giants placed kicker Greg Joseph on injured reserve with an oblique injury on Saturday.
Jude McAtamnney has been elevated from the practice squad and will make his NFL debut on Sunday.
New York continues to have kicking misfortune as the team is still without Graham Gano who injured his hamstring in the first meeting between the Commanders and Big Blue this season, and is also on IR. Joseph was then signed to take over for Gano, but after six games (13-for-16 on field goal attempts) Joseph will now miss, at minimum, four games.
That leaves the Giants with McAtamney, a Gaelic footballer who played for Rutgers in 2023, as their only option against the Commanders and possibly the near future.
In two seasons with the Scarlet Knights, McAtamney went 12-for-19 (63 percent) on field goal attempts. Last season, the 24-year-old attempted only one field goal (missed) and was used instead for kickoffs where he averaged 60.7 yards on 60 attempts.
