Georgia has undoubtedly its toughest matchup all season on the docket Thursday when Dawn Staley and her No. 2 nationally ranked Gamecocks arrive in Athens.

There is a deep history between these SEC programs, and though Georgia leads the series 33-25 dating back to 1976, South Carolina has not allowed them to win a game, regardless of location, since January 2013. The teams have sort of switched place. Georgia was the powerhouse from 1976-2013, but South Carolina took over from there on the backs of A’ja Wilson (2014-2018) and Aliyah Boston (2019-2023).

South Carolina is 21-1 overall and undefeated 9-0 in conference. Since 2021, the Gamecocks have only lost four games. They claimed themselves another national title in 2024, beating Iowa and WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark in her senior season without Boston. Meanwhile, Georgia has only defeated one SEC team this year.
