Georgia men’s tennis moved to 2-1 on the season, after falling to No. 23 Harvard in the first match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend 4-2 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Harvard took an early lead as they swept the Bulldogs in doubles, winning all three matches. The Bulldogs have had some early doubles woes as head coach Jamie Hunt is experimenting with new doubles pairings to kick off the 2025 season.
Thomas Paulsell and Ryan Colby fell to Benjamin Privara and Masato Perera 6-4. Niels Ratiu and Miguel Perez Peña also lost 6-4 in a match against Daniel Milavsky and David Lins. Lastly, court three saw the Bulldogs’ Freddy Blaydes and Oscar Pinto Sansano fall to Melchior Delloye and Valdemar Pape 5-4 in a match that did not finish.
In singles, Pinto Sansano and Colby pulled out wins for the Bulldogs on courts five and two. Pinto Sansano earned his third win and third straight set win of the 2025 season as he took down Melchior Delloye on court five 6-4, 6-4. Colby defeated Benjamin Privara on court two 7-6 (2), 6-3 to earn his second win of the season.
Paulsell, Perez Peña, Ratiu and Blaydes all fell to the Crimson in their singles matches and the Bulldogs ultimately fell short, losing their first match of the 2025 season 4-2.
Georgia now looks to bounce back as it takes on No. 21 UCLA in the second match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. UCLA (1-2) is coming off a 4-3 loss to No. 13 Texas A&M in their first tournament match. Both teams will be eager for the opportunity to ink their names in the win column to end the weekend.
