Editor’s note: As part of The Tennessean’s season-long project chronicling Brentwood Academy football and its rich history, we chat with Eagles quarterback and Tennessee recruit George MacIntyre each week about various topics. To follow along, please subscribe to The Tennessean here.
The last time Tennessee recruit George MacIntyre was in Knoxville for Vols vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide, he ended up on the field.
The Brentwood Academy senior quarterback was on a recruiting visit to Neyland Stadium in 2022 when Tennessee topped Alabama 52-49 on a last-second field goal.
“Probably the craziest visit I’ve ever taken,” MacIntyre said. “After the game, everything was wild.
“I stormed the field, so I saw a lot of things. Them taking the goalpost down was crazy.”
MacIntyre traded in footballs for beach balls for a few days this week while he was on fall break in Cabo San Lucas, but he’ll be back in Knoxville on Saturday to see the Vols and Crimson Tide square off again.
In the meantime, MacIntyre was back to work with his teammates Thursday, when the Eagles put on pads for the first time since MacIntyre’s Knoxville football playing debut Oct. 10 against Knoxville Catholic.
MacIntyre completed 13 of 16 pass attempts for 246 yards and two touchdowns in the 63-26 victory.
The Eagles are off this week before facing Lipscomb Academy on Oct. 25 at Carlton Flatt Field.
