The PGA Tour signature event Tiger Woods hosts was also supposed to be the site of his long-awaited return to competitive golf this week. Those plans were officially scuttled Monday when Woods withdrew from the 2025 Genesis Invitational, citing the recent death of his mother. His absence will likely be felt in terms of viewership and interest for the tournament, but it had little effect on the BetMGM odds heading into first-round action beginning Thursday.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy enter as tournament favorites in a loaded 72-player field for this year’s relocated event, which was moved to Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego from its usual home at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles due to damages caused by recent wildfires in the Pacific Palisades area. Hideki Matsuyama is the defending champion at a different course, Harris English won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines less than a month ago and they’re both among 46 of the world’s top 50 in the world golf rankings expected to tee off.
Here are the latest odds for the 2025 Genesis Invitational, as well as how to watch this week’s PGA Tour stop hosted by Tiger Woods at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego:
Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win the Genesis Invitational in 2025, according to BetMGM, with Rory McIlroy a close second at this PGA Tour signature event.

Cameron DaSilva writes, “Matsuyama is the defending champion at this event, but that was at Riviera. He’ll be playing Torrey Pines this week where his course history is also great. … It’s easy to forget how good Aberg looked at Torrey Pines in Round 1 less than a month ago when he shot 63. He then dealt with an illness and faded on the weekend with rounds of 74 and 79, sending him tumbling down the leaderboard. However, he was in complete control in Round 1 and should be healthy again now.”
Golf insider Patrick McDonald: “The six-time PGA Tour winner has a couple of top-10 finishes across the last three seasons and rattled off seven straight top 25s from 2015-21. His approach play tends to thrive on longer golf courses, and although the putter has been poor in recent years, he found some form at Pebble Beach where he finished T-13 in his last start.”
Tom Jacobs writes, “Since he’s returned from the offseason and shown off his new swing changes and a new ball, McIlroy has been imperious. … He will inevitably have Scottie Scheffler to contend with everywhere he goes, but for now, Rory looks in the drivers’ seat in 2025. … This looks like the perfect course for his skill set, where long, straight driving is the order of the day.”
Michael Harrison writes, “It’s only a matter of time before Min Woo Lee breaks through on the biggest stage, much like Thomas Detry did at the WM Phoenix Open. … Daniel Berger has regained the form that saw him win four PGA Tour events following a lengthy injury stint. … (Davis) is coming off a tie for fifth the last time teeing it up at Pebble Beach, where he gained over 10 strokes tee-to-green for the week. That result was his fourth top-20 in his last six PGA Tour events, which includes a pair of top-5s.”
The seventh tournament on the PGA Tour’s 2025 schedule will be carried live by Golf Channel all four days. CBS will then pick up live coverage of the third and final rounds.
There is streaming on ESPN+ and Paramount+, as well as the NBC sports app and CBS sports app. The 2025 Genesis Invitational can also be streamed via Fubo, which offers a free trial.
