The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC)/KFC Mini Zingers Cricket Programme for primary school students commenced yesterday at the club’s iconic Bourda venue with 24 children, both boys and girls from various institutions across Georgetown, turning up to learn the fundamentals of the game with Head Coach Peter Persaud.
An initiative by the club’s president, Jonathan Yearwood, the initiative is geared towards attracting the next generation to the beautiful game of cricket while adding to the talent pool for both male and female cricket in the country.
The programme which is free of charge, is open to primary school children who are interested and will run on Saturday mornings from 8:00am. Parents and guardians of interested children are encouraged to visit the club to sign up for the programme.
