Tennessee basketball returns to the court on Saturday evening when they face Texas in Austin in a critical SEC matchup.

The Vols are 6.5-point favorites at Texas according to the FanDuel Sportsbook. The over.under is set at 133.5. KenPom predicts Tennessee to earn an 69-64 victory over the Longhorns.

Tennessee basketball is 10-5 against the spread this season and 3-1 against the spread in road games. The over has hit in five Tennessee games this season and the under has hit 10 times. Texas basketball is 8-7 against the spread this season and 6-6 against the spread in home games. The over his in eight Texas games this season while the under has hit seven times.

Both Tennessee and Texas are desperate for a victory on Saturday evening. The Vols are coming off a 30-point loss at Florida earlier this week. Top-ranked Tennessee is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the year while a loss would prove detrimental to its SEC Regular-Season Championship hopes.

Texas is 0-2 in SEC play after falling at home to No. 2 Auburn, 87-82, earlier this week in Austin. The Longhorns have two more challenging games next week when they play at Oklahoma and then at Florida. Rodney Terry’s squad needs a win during the tough stretch for its NCAA Tournament hopes.

This is the fourth straight year that Tennessee and Texas have faced off on the hardwood. Texas won the first matchup 52-51 in Austin in 2022 before Tennessee responded with victories each of the last two years. The Vols beat Texas 82-71 in Knoxville in 2023 before knocking off the Longhorns 62-58 in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament last season.

Tenth-year Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes is returning to Texas for the second time in his Volunteer tenure. Barnes was the Longhorns’ head coach for 17 seasons where he led Texas to the 2003 Final Four.
