A Stark County man will spend up to 7 and a half years in prison for federal charges related to his illegal gambling businesses and taxes owed to the IRS.
49-year old Steven Saris of Lake Township pleaded guilty to tax evasion, money laundering, and operating an illegal gambling business. However as part of his plea deal federal prosecutors dropped more than 30 other charges.
Saris was first indicted back in 2022. A federal judge also ordered him to pay 2.8 million dollars in back taxes. Saris was also well known on the World Series of Poker tour for years beginning in the early two thousands.
