BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mid-year enrollee Eila Galitsky was tabbed SEC Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. The Chiang Mai, Thailand, native won the Moon Golf Invitational in a playoff on Tuesday in just her second career start.
Galitsky sunk a 35-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to defeat the top-ranked women’s amateur golfer in the world in Lottie Woad of Florida State. She became the first freshman to win a tournament for the Gamecocks since All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard won twice her first season on campus in 2019-20.
Galitsky shot 211 (-5) with a career-best score of 69 (-3) in the final round yesterday. She clutched up down the stretch with birdies at holes 15 and 16 to force the playoff with Woad. The true freshman led the field this week at the Moon Golf Invitational in par-3 scoring (2.67, -4) and in birdies with 14 red numbers on her scorecards over 54 holes.
Galitsky is ranked No. 19 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings, just behind All-American teammates Hannah Darling (No. 16) and Louise Rydqvist (No. 12).
The No. 5 Gamecocks return to action in two weeks March 3-5 on Hilton Head Island hosting the 13th edition of the greatest show in college golf, the 2025 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The annual event at Long Cove Club features one of the strongest fields of the season as 12 of the 17 teams playing are ranked in the top-25 of the latest Clippd Poll.
For the fourth consecutive year, Golf Channel will again be providing full three-day coverage of the tournament. The event made history in 2022 becoming the first and only all-women’s regular season event to be broadcast by the network.
