KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Family and friends of a Kansas City-area sports reporter will remember his life as investigators continue to find the person who killed him.
Dennis Sharkey, Jr. died Jan. 10. His death came one day after his 50th birthday. Sharkey planned to celebrate his birthday with loved ones the day after he died.
Now, instead of celebrating, those who knew Sharkey will gather to remember his life.
They are planning a Celebration of Life to honor Sharkey. It will be held Saturday, Jan. 25., Passantino Brothers Funeral Home. The building is located at 2117 Independence Boulevard in Kansas City. The service starts at 1 p.m.
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is still asking anyone traveling on Interstate 29 between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., who noticed something strange, to call investigators.
Platte County Deputies believe Sharkey was coming from covering a sporting event right before the shooting. They They something happened between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. that may help them solve Sharkey’s homicide.
Anyone with information or who observed anything that may be relevant to the homicide investigation is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). You can remain anonymous and if information leads to an arrest you may receive up to a $25,000 reward.
