Vahva, last seen finishing eighth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, worked Friday morning for trainer Cherie DeVaux.
The 5-year-old daughter of Gun Runner breezed three furlongs in 36.8 seconds at Keeneland, third fastest of nine at the distance.
It was Vahva’s second work since her Breeders’ Cup appearance. Earlier in the year, she won the Derby City Distaff (G3) and Chicago (G3) before finishing third in the Ballerina (G1) ahead of the Breeders’ Cup.
Vahva was one of 16 graded-stakes winners with published works Friday.
Carson’s Run (Cupid), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Saratoga Derby Invitational), worked three furlongs in 38.4 seconds at Payson Park on Friday morning. It was the fifth fastest of eight works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed fifth in the Hollywood Derby (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 30 for trainer Christophe Clement.
