Thorpedo Anna worked Friday for the second time since her Breeders’ Cup Distaff victory.
The 2024 horse of the year breezed four furlongs in 47.03 seconds at Gulfstream Park, second fastest of 34 at the distance.
Trainer Kenny McPeek told Thoroughbred Daily News this week that the 4-year-old likely would have her next start in the Grade 2 Azeri at Oaklawn on March 8, perhaps with the Apple Blossom (G1) after that.
Also of note, Dubyuhnell returned to the tab for the first time since June, breezing three furlongs in 38.2 seconds at Payson Park, slowest of five at the distance. Winner of the Remsen (G2) in 2022, his lone win in six starts since came in an optional-claiming allowance in October 2023. He raced twice last year, finishing ninth in an optional-claiming allowance in May in his last start.

Howard Wolowitz (Munnings), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Franklin-Simpson), worked four furlongs in 47.1 seconds at Palm Meadows on Friday morning. It was the fastest of 46 works at the distance. His previous work was 13 days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he won the Holiday Cheer going six furlongs on the synthetic at Turfway Park on Dec. 14 for trainer Jose D’Angelo.
Nakatomi (Firing Line), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Payson Park on Friday morning. It was the fastest of 16 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer Wesley Ward.
Dubyuhnell (Good Magic), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Remsen), worked three furlongs in 38.2 seconds at Payson Park on Friday morning. It was the slowest of five works at the distance. His previous work was 218 days ago going three furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he placed ninth in an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs on May 9 for trainer Danny Gargan.
Sparkle Blue (Hard Spun), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Hillsborough), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds on turf at Palm Meadows on Friday morning. It was the 31st fastest of 45 works at the distance. Her previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In her last start she placed 11th in the Dance Smartly (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Woodbine on Oct. 5 for trainer Graham Motion.
Alpha Bella (Justify), a Grade 3 winner (2024 La Prevoyante), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Friday morning. It was the 31st fastest of 55 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed second in the La Canada (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 19 for trainer John Sadler.
Artislas (Catalina Cruiser), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Del Mar Juvenile Turf), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Santa Anita on Friday morning. It was the third fastest of 10 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Eddie Logan going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Dec. 29 for trainer Jeff Mullins.
