Book’em Danno worked Friday morning at Belmont Park ahead of an expected start in next weekend’s Grade 2 Cigar Mile Handicap.
The 3-year-old Bucchero gelding breezed five furlongs in 1:01.21, the fastest of five works at the distance.
Trained by Derek Ryan, Bucchero has a 6: 3-2-1 record this year, including a win in the Woody Stephens (G1). He was second by a neck last out in the Perryville (G3). Ryan told Horse Racing Nation this month that after the Cigar Mile, he will head to Saudi Arabia in February for either the Saudi Cup (G1) or Riyadh Dirt Sprint (G2).
