As the Washington Huskies gear up to host a bevy of prospects on unofficial visits on March 8 and 9 for the school’s junior day, Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff made a high-upside addition to its list when four-star defensive line prospect James Carrington announced he’d be making a trip to Seattle for the weekend.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, the product of Crean Lutheran High School in Southern California is ranked as the nation’s No. 118 overall prospect and No. 18 defensive lineman in the 2026 class by 247Sports. Carrington will also be joined on the visit by one of Washington’s top defensive line targets and his Crean Lutheran teammate, four-star edge rusher Anthony Jones.
After Simote Katoanga committed to USC, Carrington has become the top uncommitted interior defensive lineman on the West Coast and has collected an impressive offer list, with 30 schools vying for his services. He’s already set official visits to LSU and Oklahoma for the summer, and Fisch’s staff could be pushing to set up another trip to Montlake, thanks to his promising athletic profile.
” [He’s] really flashed on tape, showing a rare combination of quickness and power,” 247Sports’ Greg Biggins said in his evaluation.
“He’s a naturally strong kid with a quick first step and can beat an opposing lineman right off the snap. Can bully and rag doll tackles and guards at the high school level and lives in the backfield. Plays inside and outside, but we like him as an interior defensive lineman at the college level. He can win at the line right now with raw physical gifts, but he will need to develop some counters and continue to refine his technique to really take his game to another level. He has a high ceiling, and it’s easy to see why he’s been a national recruit since he was just a freshman.”
The Huskies haven’t secured commitments from any defensive linemen in the 2026 class yet, the position where defensive coordinator Ryan Walters’ staff needs to make the most upgrades moving forward.
