Shortly after legendary Penn State defensive back Grant Haley announced his retirement from football, another famous former Nittany Lion defensive back found a new home to continue his NFL career.
Safety Adrian Amos has agreed to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who will be the fifth team he has played for entering his 10th NFL season. He is also officially on the Jaguars’ online roster.
In Jacksonville, Amos will reunite with safety Darnell Savage, whom he played alongside for four seasons with the Green Bay Packers. And though Amos’ time in the blue and white came before them, there are three other former Nittany Lions on the Jaguars’ roster: cornerback Amani Oruwariye, wide receiver Parker Washington and tight end Brenton Strange.
After being a regular contributor and starter through all four years of his college career (2011-2014), Amos was a fifth-round NFL Draft selection in 2015. He finished his Penn State career with 149 tackles, seven interceptions and three sacks.
Amos began his professional career with the Chicago Bears, where he stayed for four seasons and earned an NFL All-Rookie Team selection. He then moved on to the Green Bay Packers for four years and wound up splitting last season between the Houston Texans and New York Jets.
Amos showed some signs of slowing down, having started in just three of his 16 games played last season with just 29 tackles. He’s been to the postseason five times: with Chicago in 2018, with Green Bay from 2019-2021 and with Houston last season.
