Kel’el Ware has certainly opened a few eyes during the NBA’s Summer League in Las Vegas.
The Miami Heat’s rookie center’s play has been impressive enough to earn a selection to the Summer League First Team, the NBA announced Monday afternoon. Ware was joined on the team by GG Jackson II and Scotty Pippen Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies, along with Jordan Miller of the Los Angeles Clippers and Reed Shepard of the Houston Rockets.
Ware, the Heat’s first-round pick (No. 15) in the 2024 NBA draft and former Oregon Ducks’ star, scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds on Sunday in a 102-99 victory against Golden State to advance to the league’s championship game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
The 7-footer has averaged 17.4 points and eight rebounds per game, while shooting 58.6% from the floor in five games.
