As the NBA trade deadline is hours away, it appears that the Milwaukee Bucks are done making transactions for the regular season.
Due to Khris Middleton‘s struggles, the team was in search of a new third option offensively and found a trade partner with the Washington Wizards and acquired Kyle Kuzma.
Because Milwaukee has fallen to No. 5 in the Eastern Conference, they’ll need some offensive firepower to compete with the other top teams. If this trade doesn’t end up working out for the Bucks and they have another season where they fail to advance past the first round of the post-season, there could be some repercussions.
NBA analyst and former teammate of Antetokounmpo, Demarcus Cousins believes that there is a possibility that Giannis Antetokounmpo could leave the team for a bigger market team if things don’t work out.
“As his teammate I learned there’s always truth in his humor. And he’s a lot smarter than he likes to give. I could see that happening. Especially, if the experiment with Damian Lillard doesn’t go as planned. It’s obvious he was ready to move from Milwaukee once before. If this thing don’t work out, I could absolutely see him in Chicago. It’s right down the street, he’s comfortable in the Midwest. And obviously Chicago is a great market for any superstar,” Cousins said.
These are some interesting comments from his former teammate. Especially, since just yesterday Antetokounmpo tweeted and deleted the colors red and white with the thinking emoji.
As the landscape of the NBA continues to change, more and more trades will be happening. The Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade has not only opened the eyes of the fans, but more so the players. As Antetokounmpo’s former teammate, Cousins is aware of how he operates. Since the Bucks are more than likely done with deals for the season, if the Lillard trade or the Kuzma trade don’t work out, this could be a much different team next season.
