Former Tennessee women’s basketball player Chamique Holdsclaw will be inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
Her induction as a member of the class of 2025, was announced by former Lady Vols’ head coach Holly Warlick and Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Executive Director Brad Willis.
The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, sponsored by Tennessee Lottery, celebrates the state’s rich sports heritage and honors those who have made a lasting impact within their communities.
“Chamique Holdsclaw is one of the greatest players ever to wear the Lady Vols’ uniform,” Willis said. “She helped define an era of dominance for Tennessee women’s basketball, and we are honored to welcome her to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame class of 2025.”
Holdsclaw, a native of Queens, New York, played for the Lady Vols from 1995-99 under head coach Pat Summitt. She led Tennessee to three NCAA national championships from 1996-98, and led the Lady Vols to a 39-0 record during the 1997-98 season.
Holdsclaw was a four-time All-American at Tennessee, named National Player of the Year twice, a two-time SEC Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament twice.
She is the Lady Vols’ all time leading scorer and rebounder. Following Holdsclaw’s college career, she was selected by Washington with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1999 WNBA draft and named Rookie of the Year.
She was selected to the WNBA All-Star Game six times and played professional basketball for more than a decade. Following her career, Holdsclaw has been an advocate for mental health awareness.
