Former Austin Area High School Sports Awards Offensive Football Player of the Year nominee Jaden Greathouse scored a touchdown in Thursday night’s college football national semifinal game.
Notre Dame’s Greathouse caught a pass from Irish quarterback Riley Leonard, juked free and dashed 54 yards to the goal line. The TD tied the score at 24.
Notre Dame won the game on a late field goal, 27-24. The Irish will play for the national championship on Jan. 20. against the winner of Friday’s Ohio State vs. Texas game.
Westlake’s Greathouse was a nominee in Austin in 2022. The Player of the Year Award was ultimately won by his teammate, quarterback Cade Klubnik, who is now the starter at Clemson.
On Thursday, Greathouse was the leading receiver for the Irish with seven receptions for 105 yards and the score. He also had a huge 10-yard reception during the last 20 seconds of regulation.
