One of Alabama football’s in-season transfer departures has a new home. Former Crimson Tide defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis is heading to Colorado, he confirmed in a social media post on Monday.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report the news. Oatis played four games for the Crimson Tide this season, before leaving the team and preserving his redshirt.
“Jehiem, felt like it was going that way,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said at the time. “I think the thing you also have to understand is there’s other elements to this, right. There’s health elements. There’s life elements. I love these guys. They work hard. Jehiem’s choices and things, there’s reasons for that.”
Oatis spent three seasons in Tuscaloosa, including the 2024 campaign. His offseason after the 2023 season was hampered by an injury that caused him to miss all of spring football.
He played in 13 games, starting three in 2023, which followed a freshman campaign where he earned freshman all-SEC honors. In 2024, he finished the four games he played in with two tackles, a hurry and a pass breakup.
The Mississippi native joined the class of 2022 as a four-star prospect. According to 247Sports, he held the same ranking as a transfer to the Buffaloes.
Colorado finished the 2024 regular season 9-3, led by Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of head coach Deion Sanders. The Buffaloes will finish the year in the Frisco Bowl.
Meanwhile, Alabama’s 2024 season will finish in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31. The transfer portal remains open for undergraduate entry until Dec. 28.
