TAMPA ― Florida football will be thin along its defensive line heading into its matchup with Tulane on Friday at Raymond James Stadium in the Gasparilla Bowl (3:30 p.m., ESPN2).
Starting defensive tackles Cam Jackson and Caleb Banks are among those sitting out for the Florida Gators against the Green Wave.
Jackson posted 37 tackles, four tackles for loss. 1.5 sacks and two pass breakups on the season. Banks, who suffered an injury during UF’s regular season finale against Florida State, has tallied 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
With Jackson and Banks out, Florida will likely use Desmond Watson and Joey Slackman for extended snaps along its defensive front, along with JUCO transfer Brien Taylor Jr. and freshman D’Antre Robinson.
Two more starters on UF’s offensive line ― right guard Dameion George Jr. and right tackle Brendan Crenshaw-Dickson ― also are out.
Freshman cornerback Jameer Grimsley also is out for UF with an apparent leg injury. Sophomore cornerback Cormani McClain also is out.
