VELVA, N.D. (KMOT) – National signing day got off to a strong start Wednesday as five of the six all-staters from this year’s Class A Dakota Bowl champions Velva-D-A-G signed with college programs.

Bradyn Bossert signed with Valley City State, while teammate Hank Bodine committed to Western Carolina, a Division I FCS program.

Ben Schepp signed with NDSU, Reggie Bruner committed to MSU-Moorhead and Trey Iglehart put pen to paper for Jamestown.

The Aggie seniors, who are longtime friends, said this is a day years in the making.

“It all starts in the playground playing recess football, and then obviously as co-ops come along, too, we’ve got Trey with us here. It all just comes with the preparation and the practice and the offseason work, and now we finally get to make that next jump,” said Ben Schepp.

“It’s a good feeling. I know when I was growing up looking at that banner over there, I’ve always saw that it ended at 2010, and I’ve always wanted to add to it so that we need to put an extension on the bottom. Not quite there, but I know Velva, we’ve rebuilt in the past and I know they’ll do a good job in the future,” said Hank Bodine.

The V-D-A-G senior class won state championships in 2022 and 2024.
