NORMAN, Okla. – Matt Buckley, Owen Himmer, Ryan Komp, Jacob Lindsay, and Rodrigo Muelas of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) golf team have been named 2023-24 Cobalt Golf Division III All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. Additionally, each nominee must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, post a per-round stroke average under 79.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.20.
In total, 208 student-athletes from 81 Division III schools earned 2023-24 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors. The Engineer’s tied for the second-most honorees among all DIII institutions, as RPI was one of eight schools to have had at least five recipients.
The Engineers squad was also one of 30 DIII programs to be named an All-Academic Team. Teams must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 in order to receive a GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award.
