DEFIANCE, Ohio (WTVG) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine recently shared that First Quality Tissue Midwest, a manufacturer of paper, packaging, and hygiene products, is set to invest $984 million and create over 400 jobs in Defiance with a new production facility.
According to Gov. DeWine’s office, the new 1.6 million square-foot facility will be located on a 1,000-acre site at the city’s Baltimore Avenue Industrial Corridor.
The facility was the first to be selected for future economic development with support from the All Ohio Future Fund.
“The All Ohio Future Fund was created to attract and support established companies that are prepared to hit the ground running and make a significant investment in jobs and capital in our state,” said Governor DeWine. “Ohio’s work to proactively prepare this Defiance County site is a win-win for Ohio, Defiance County and First Quality Tissue.”
Gov. DeWine’s office says Ohio was competing with multiple other states for the facility.
On Feb. 25, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.740%, 10-year tax credit for the project.
First Quality Tissue Midwest’s Defiance production facility is set to begin operations by 2032.
