UPDATE: Robert Saleh will contribute on the offensive side, according to Packers coach Matt LaFleur, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. It seems like a part-time gig.
“It’s a good opportunity for him and also to give us perspective on how teams might see us, how they might defend us,” LaFleur said.
###
Two weeks after being fired by the New York Jets, former head coach Robert Saleh attended practice for the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday.
Footage shared by reporters at practice showed Saleh watching the offense with what appeared to be paperwork in his hand. It was unclear what role, if any, Saleh had with the Packers, whose head coach, Matt LaFleur, calls Saleh one of his best friends.

Saleh was fired Oct. 8 with the Jets 2-3. He lasted three-plus seasons, compiling a 20-36 record with no playoff appearances.
LaFleur was the best man at Saleh’s wedding and the two have a close existing working relationship. LaFleur and Salah were part of Central Michigan’s coaching staff in 2004 and roomed together and then teamed up with the Houston Texans from 2008-09, the former as offensive quality control coach and the latter the defensive quality control coach and assistant linebackers coach. The two have remained close and credit each other for their coaching successes.
Saleh has also been on the same staff as current Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley while with the San Francisco 49ers from 2016-18.
The Packers are 5-3 with a defense that ranks 10th in points allowed and 15th in yards given up per game.
