After one of the conference’s more memorable years in recent history, the 2024 SEC football season has now officially come to a close, and when looking back, what a year it was.
A year that featured the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, the SEC saw a total of three teams at the end of the season make the field, with a few others just missing. The SEC was also well represented in the Top 25 throughout the season, and once again, had many of the nation’s top players and coaches when all was said and done.
With us having updated our SEC football power rankings every week throughout the season as well, the time has now officially come to put the finishing touches on the year with our final update.
So, here are our final SEC football power rankings of the 2024 season, starting with No. 16:

Mississippi State Bulldogs

We begin our final update of the season with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who were one-of-three SEC teams to not make a bowl game. The Bulldogs finished the season at 2-10 overall, as well as winless in SEC play at 0-8.

Kentucky Wildcats

Ending the 2024 season at No. 1 are the Texas Longhorns, who ended their season with a run in the College Football Playoff that included wins over Clemson and Arizona State in the first two rounds by scores of 38-24 and 39-31, respectively, but later fell to Ohio State in the CFP Semifinal, 28-14. The Longhorns officially ended their first season in the SEC at 13-3 overall, as well as 7-1 in SEC play.
