FARMVILLE, Va. –Longwood men’s golf coach Kevin Fillman announced the addition of four signees during the early signing period.
The Lancers will welcome Josh Cummins (Christiansburg, Va. | Christiansburg HS), Matthew Hartley (Stafford, Va. | Colonial Forge HS), Kai Krishnan (Nottingham, England | Rushcliffe Spencer Academy) and Gabriel Mainella (Richmond Hill, Ontario | Richmond Green Secondary School) to Farmville next fall.
Josh Cummins

Christiansburg HS
Cummins will come to Farmville following his time at Christiansburg High School. He was named the team MVP for four straight seasons, and he was a two-time All-State selection, earning the honor in both 2023 and 2024.
This past fall, he posted a 72.5 scoring average to earn his all-state honors. He also played for Team Virginia for the Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational, and he helped Virginia win the tournament.
He has had a lot of success on the amateur circuit as well, finishing sixth at the Virginia Junior, and he was a quarterfinalist in the 2024 Virginia Junior Match Play.
Cummins earned a spot representing Virginia at the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Invitational, and he finished tied for 38th at the 2024 Virginia Open, an event that included professionals, with a 73-73-71—217.
Matthew Hartley

Colonial Forge HS
Hartley will join the Lancers following his time at Colonial Forge High School, where he won three district titles and a pair of region championships.
He earned All-State, All-Region and All-District honors in his time at Colonial Forge, and he was also a the All-Area Player of the year as well as team MVP and captain.
On the amateur circuit, Hartley won the 2024 VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Championship with a 71-67—138, and he was a medalist at the AJGA Lanto Junior Qualifier.
Hartley finished as a semifinalist at the 2024 Bobby Bowers Junior where he was the medalist in stroke play and won three straight match play rounds before falling to the eventual champion. He too was selected to represent Virginia, the winning side, at the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Invitational.
Kai Krishnan

Rushcliffe Spencer Academy
Krishnan will make his journey across the Atlantic Ocean to Farmville next fall. In 2024, he won both the Nottinghamshire Boys’ Stroke Play and Match Play titles, and he won the Midland Schools Championship with a 76-69—145.
At the English Schools National Championship, he tied for third with a 71-70—141, and he was fifth at the Robert Rock Midlands (U21) with a 75-74-72—221.
Krishnan added a fifth-place finish at the Boys’ Champion of Champions, which brought together all county champions in the UK.
He tied for 16th at the 2024 Danny Willett Salver with a 77-69-73-71—290, and he finished 18th at the 2024 Midland Youths U21 event that featured a variety of college players in the field.
Gabriel Mainella

Richmond Green Secondary School
Mainella will head down to Farmville after his time at Richmond Green Secondary School. Mainella is a decorated amateur player who has won multiple junior events in the past calendar year.
He won the Ontario Junior Championship with a 71-71-71-69—282, and he also won the Ontario Junior Players Invitational with a 72-74-69—215.
In addition, he tied for third at the Ontario Junior Boys’ Spring Classic with a 75-69-69—213 and tied for ninth at the 2024 Canadian Junior. A chosen member of Team Ontario for 2025, he was a quarterfinalist at the Ontario Junior Match Play as well.
He was also a highly-ranked junior tennis player before starting golf at the age of 15, and he played a variety of other sports while in high school.
