This fantasy season has been tough in terms of injuries to relevant players. And guess what? It’s about to get MORE complicated because we’re entering the bye weeks. We won’t be counting on any Chargers, Eagles, Lions, or Titans this week.
In weeks like these, we need to rely on streamers, and this weekly article is here to help you find the best options. Like every Tuesday, we’ll discuss some quarterbacks, kickers, defense/special teams, and even a tight end to help our fantasy teams squeeze as many points as possible from these onesie positions.
If you still need help deciding between two or more options, don’t forget to take a look at Andy, Mike, and Jason’s weekly rankings. You can also check out the Ultimate Dashboard to find spot-start suggestions for your specific lineup.
Let’s see what Week 5 has in store for us in the streaming department.
Still available in the majority of leagues, Justin Fields finally had a proper fantasy breakout performance as a Pittsburgh Steeler. Against the Colts, he did what we always expect from a mobile quarterback like him: he rushed the ball 10 times for 55 yards and two TDs while also completing 22 of his 34 passes for 312 yards and another touchdown. Next week, he’ll play against the Cowboys, which sounds like it would be scary but hasn’t been at all this season. So far, Dallas has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game and the third-most rushing attempts to QBs this season. If Mike Tomlin keeps unleashing Justin Fields like he did last Sunday, he should be a more-than-decent streamer.
Good ol’ Joe Flacco is a touchdown machine. Last year he managed to salvage a terrible Browns season, and now that he came in relief for Anthony Richardson when he left the game with a hip injury, he immediately made the whole team look significantly better. Michael Pittman and Josh Downs perform in a much more natural way with Flacco under center. This week, the Colts will visit Jacksonville in a divisional matchup, and since the Jaguars have allowed the third-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks, Joe will have a chance to shine.
Let’s go once again to the Geno Smith streaming well. He has been really good this season, and now he’ll play a home game against the New York Giants. Seattle’s offensive line has been great this season, allowing Geno to make some big plays and connect long passes with his elite playmakers. He really can end up having as good of a season as he did in 2022. Luckily, he is still available in most leagues, so grab him if you can for another streaming bonanza.
The Arizona Cardinals veteran kicker was having an excellent and consistent start to the season until he busted last week. The Cardinals weren’t able to do much damage in this game, and they didn’t provide Prater with any field goal opportunities. However, he still hasn’t failed a single kick attempt, so he must be pumped about getting some juicy opportunities in an exciting divisional matchup against the San Francisco 49ers that Vegas expects to be the second-highest-scoring game of the week.
Joshua Karty had the first miss of his career last week against the Chicago Bears. He still nailed four other field goal attempts and delivered for fantasy. The kid is good and he plays on a team that frequently gets in position to score points. This will be the case when the Rams face the Packers this week in a game with a 48-point over/under.
The Seahawks-Giants matchup this week doesn’t project to be a high-scoring affair. But Seattle is the favorite by a wide margin, and Daniel Jones has been developing a better connection with Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson. The Giants should be able to stay in the game and force the Seahawks to keep scoring. Jason Myers is once again a decent streaming option if you need a kicker this week.
The Seahawks have been pretty good this season against mistake-prone quarterbacks, and they’re about to face that turnover machine called Daniel Jones. This man already has three interceptions and nine sacks in the season. On top of that, this matchup is expected to be among this week’s lowest-scoring games, making the Seahawks a great streamer.
What else do we need to confirm this defense is for real? They’re now second in sacks, and Patrick Surtain II has been doing an amazing job neutralizing their opponent’s top weapon in every game. This has resulted in low-scoring games almost every week, which, in the case of D/ST, is great for fantasy. This week, they have a great matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, which is projected to see the fewest points among all games this week. The Broncos should once again be an excellent streaming option and also happen to be widely available.
It looks like the ‘Manders finally woke up, and it happened in the least expected moment against the Arizona Cardinals. That game was supposed to be a shootout. And it kind of was but only in one way, because Washington contained the Cardinals perfectly and sacked Kyler Murray four times. They will now face the Cleveland Browns, who have an atrocious offensive line and have allowed opponents to sack Deshaun Watson 19 times in only four weeks.
The Tennessee Titans have turned into the best opponent to target when streaming D/ST, but since they’re on bye, the next best thing is the Miami Dolphins. Since they lost Tua Tagovailoa, they have been a mess. Now, with Tyler Huntley under center, things seem to be a little less hopeless for them, but he is still learning the ropes of this offense. The New England Patriots D/ST has been decent in favorable matchups and they should be a safe option in this game with a ridiculous 36.5 over/under line.
Jordan Love is back, and what looked like the new normal in Week 1 is once again happening: Tucker Kraft is now the team’s TE1. Love is airing the ball out and spreading around all his weapons. This past week, Tucker Kraft was on the field during 89% of the offensive snaps. He had nine targets and six receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. He looks like a legit long-term TE option. But even if it turns out he isn’t, he is still a very solid streamer this week against the Rams, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to the position.
