The easiest way to kick off 2025 fantasy football rankings is to take a look back at what happened the year before. What worked, what didn’t work—but most importantly, addressing the “WHY” behind the successes and failures and using that as a driving force to make smart draft decisions next season. Understanding the underlying trends, player usage, injuries, and team dynamics can help fantasy managers separate flukes from sustainable performances, ensuring they don’t fall into the trap of overvaluing players primed for regression or overlooking potential breakout candidates.
That’s how I’ll start the breakdown of the tight end position for 2025 fantasy football rankings as we look ahead to the 2025 draft and best ball season. The tight end landscape is notoriously unpredictable, with a handful of elite options and a rotating cast of potential sleepers and disappointments. Because with best ball, it’s never too early to start drafting.
Before we dive into the full 2025 tight end rankings with player notes on the top 12 (or so), I want to dive deeper into the approach to drafting TEs. I discussed in length my TE approach in my 2024 Tight Ends to Avoid article from last draft season.
Long story short: it’s not hard to find tight ends who bust—because most of them do, especially in the middle range of the position.
And that’s why going late-round tight end remains a viable strategy, especially in redraft formats. You avoid all costs associated with high-priced tight ends and avoid the bust potential altogether. You might miss on the early-drafted tight ends that do hit (a small number, no doubt), but your roster is taking on much less risk.
Because for every early-round tight end that hits, there’s a late-round tight end that dramatically surpasses their ADP every year.
And while you wait for the production that never comes from some early-round tight ends…you miss out on the guys breaking out on the waiver wire. The “sunk cost” fallacy.
Focus your strategy on finding tight ends later to avoid this unfortunate outcome and build a potential super team spearheaded by top-tier RBs/WRs/QBs in the early rounds. Specifically this season with a strong crop of rookie TEs in the 2025 NFL Draft Class. Headlined by Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland, who are projected to be top-20 draft selections.
And with that, let’s break down the highest-ranked tight ends for 2025 fantasy football.
