The Tennessee Titans will be searching for their second straight win in Week 10 when they travel to SoFi Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Chargers. If the Titans want to accomplish that feat for the first time this season, they’ll need wideout Calvin Ridley and running back Tony Pollard to step up.
Stepping up is all Pollard has done this season, as he’s easily been Tennessee’s best player on offense. Pollard took on a monster workload last week with 28 carries, which he turned into 128 yards. He also added three catches for 26 yards.
Coming off his best game of the season the week prior, Ridley took a bit of a step back last week but was still productive, catching five of eight targets for 73 yards.
But the quarterback he has had the most success with this season, Mason Rudolph, won’t be starting for the Titans this week. We’ll go over that and more as we take a look at some start or sit advice for Ridley and Pollard in Week 10.
There are a few things to be concerned about when it comes to Ridley this week.
For starters, the Titans will be returning Will Levis to the lineup in place of Mason Rudolph now that he’s healthy. Levis has played very poorly this season, and Ridley has suffered as a result.
Adding to that, the Chargers sport the No. 11 pass defense in the NFL and are giving up the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers.
One positive Ridley has going for him is that the Chargers won’t have their No. 2 cornerback, Kristian Fulton, who’s having a good year but is listed as doubtful because of a hamstring injury.
With four teams on bye this week, you can justify starting Ridley, but you’re better off going in a different direction if you have someone who has been more consistent this year.
Verdict: Sit Ridley
Pollard continues to be one of the very few bright spots on the 2024 Titans, and he has become a lineup lock as a result. That said, there are a few concerns this week.
The Chargers have been stingy against the run and have the eighth-best run defense in the NFL. Los Angeles has also been stingy in terms of giving up fantasy points per game to running backs, surrendering the second-fewest.
As if all that wasn’t enough, there is a concern about Pollard’s workload taking a bit of a hit now that Tyjae Spears is back. Even with all that, Pollard has simply been too good this season not to have in lineups. He’s an RB2 play this week.
Verdict: Start Pollard
