It doesn’t matter if the NFL hasn’t had their draft yet, they don’t know how much we love doing our own. There are still six months until the first meaningful kick-off, but it is never too early to participate in a fantasy football mock draft.
For this mock, we are going with the standard format, so it doesn’t matter if a player catches the ball a lot. Let’s look at how this draft went down from the third pick. You can view the full board here.
This was an easy slam dunk pick.
Ja’Marr Chase accomplished the rare triple crown by leading the league in receptions (125), receiving yards (1,708) and touchdowns (17).
Chase might be paid by the time training camp starts, but whether he has the bag or not, the connection he and Joe Burrow have established since LSU is the best in the league.
James Cook continues to establish himself as one of the top running backs in the league. This season, he finished as the RB8. His touchdowns helped him make this leap, going from two in 2023 to 18 in 2024.
Even with Josh Allen‘s rushing abilities, offensive coordinator Joe Brady gave Cook a prominent role in a fantastic offense.
James Cook is also essential to the Bills’ passing game, making this a great stack early in my draft.
Josh Allen still needs to get over the hump of getting to the Super Bowl, but he finally win an MVP award. Some people don’t like drafting a quarterback this high, but if you rostered Allen last year, you might have won a championship.
Allen had some unreal fantasy performances, including a 50-point week, followed by 40 points. When he gets to the red zone, there is a chance he will run it in himself.
The Bills quarterback will again compete to be the top fantasy player with the core of his offense returning.
We have been hoping for years Courtland Sutton would have his breakout season, and it took Bo Nix to make it happen. He had a career-high 81 receptions and 159.3 fantasy points.
Sutton dominated the ball with a 25% target share with Javonte Williams coming next at 13%. Even if the Broncos draft a wide receiver, Sutton is still the top guy.
Getting Tony Pollard as my RB2 feels like a steal. He’s been consistent over the last few years, with three straight years of 1,000 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He should be a prominent part of the offense because there is a chance there could be a rookie quarterback in Tennessee.
Jameson Williams came out of the gate in 2024 with a 124-yard receiving performance in Week 1. He recorded his first 1,000-yard receiving season in just 15 games.
The Lions have a fast-paced offense that allows many players to get the ball. They also have two 1,000-yard receivers.
We’re going to get T.J. Hockenson over a year after his knee injury. The upside is there. J.J. McCarthy will likely be the starter this season, and first-year quarterbacks love to depend on tight ends.
There’s a lot of excitement about the potential of this Commanders offense. Jayden Daniels established himself as a leader and this was one of the better offenses in the league.
Daniels and Deebo Samuel could be a dangerous combo with quick passes and run-pass options (RPO). Kliff Kingsbury’s creative offensive scheme could use Samuel in various ways.
Depending on whether the Steelers try to re-sign Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren might be a feature back. Either way, he has seen plenty of touches and was efficient as a runner and pass-catcher in 2024.
