Sports Seriously
With Week 9 in the books, the 2024 NFL season has reached its halfway point. Fantasy football players have had to contend with a plethora of injuries throughout the season so far, and there are a few more big injuries to contend with in Week 10.
This week, the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Seattle Seahawks are all on their byes, providing extra time for some of their banged-up players to recover.
Also notable this week: the New York Giants will take on the Carolina Panthers in Munich on Sunday, marking the NFL’s fifth and final international game of the season.
For 26 other teams, it’s business as usual this week. Here are the latest fantasy football injury updates ahead of Week 10:
Prescott suffered a hamstring injury late in the third quarter of the Cowboys’ Week 9 game against the Falcons. Team owner Jerry Jones said the quarterback will miss “an extended period of time” and may be placed on injured reserve.
According to head coach Doug Pederson, the Jaguars’ starter was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice as he dealt with a sore left shoulder. Lawrence said that he aims to play against the Vikings this week.
On Wednesday, Tennessee head coach Brian Callahan told reporters that Levis will take more reps in practice this week ahead of the Titans’ clash with the Chargers. The second-year quarterback has not played since Week 6 while dealing with a shoulder injury.
The Ravens’ second-year running back has missed all nine weeks of the season so far as he works to return from the ACL tear he suffered last season. Head coach John Harbaugh said Mitchell has a chance to make his season debut in Week 10.
Brooks, who had been rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered in college, was a full participant in practice again on Wednesday. That continued the trend from his full participation all of last week. Carolina officially activated the rookie running back, but whether he plays on Sunday remains unclear.
After Sunday’s win over the Jaguars, Barkley said he was experiencing back tightness during the game. He did not participate in the early part of Wednesday’s practice. However, the star running back also said he plans to return for Philadelphia’s matchup with the Cowboys this weekend.
On Monday, the 49ers designated McCaffrey to return from injured reserve. The running back has not appeared in a game for San Francisco this year as he’s dealt with a lower leg injury since training camp. He was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice but felt no pain, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Mason had been playing through an AC joint sprain in his shoulder since Week 6 and departed the 49ers’ Week 8 game against the Cowboys when he aggravated it. Shanahan said Mason’s status was “day-to-day,” but there have not been any updates on the tailback since the team came out of its Week 9 bye.
Spears has missed the Titans’ last three games as he battles a hamstring injury. ESPN Titans beat reporter Turron Davenport shared that the running back was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told reporters that Robinson would practice on Wednesday, though his participation status was unavailable at the time of writing. However, Quinn said Washington’s leading rusher was in a good spot to play Sunday against the Steelers.
Likely missed a second consecutive practice on Tuesday as he deals with a hamstring injury. On Wednesday, Baltimore announced the tight end will miss his first game of the season when the Ravens take on the Bengals on Thursday night.
Goedert has missed Philadelphia’s last three games thanks to a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 6. The tight end returned to practice on Wednesday as a limited participant and could play Sunday against the Cowboys.
According to the Falcons ‘ official website, London was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday’s walk-through. The receiver sustained what was believed to be a hip pointer injury during Atlanta’s Week 9 clash with the Cowboys, and his status is still day-to-day.
The Bills’ major trade deadline acquisition missed his team’s Week 9 game with the Dolphins as he dealt with a wrist injury. Cooper was listed as a limited participant in Buffalo’s Wednesday walk-through.
Coleman did not participate in the Bills’ walk-through practice on Wednesday. The rookie receiver suffered a wrist injury during Week 9’s clash with the Dolphins.
The Bengals did not go so far as to declare their wide receiver out for Thursday’s game, but Higgins was listed as doubtful in Cincinnati’s final injury report. Thanks to two lower-body injuries, he’s played in just five games this season.
ESPN reporter Todd Archer shared to social media website X that Lamb did not do much on the field during Wednesday’s practice. The receiver “has taken the snaps” in the Cowboys’ walk-through period though.
Collins has reportedly “passed all tests” for Houston as he works his way back from a hamstring injury that earned him a stint on the IR. However, the Texans have not decided whether the wideout will be active for Week 10’s “Sunday Night Football” meeting with the Lions.
Olave is “seeking specialists” after suffering his second concussion of the season and fifth since 2020. He did not practice on Wednesday, but the Saints have not decided whether the receiver will head to IR.
After suffering a concussion in the Giants’ Week 9 loss to the Commanders, Slayton did not practice on Wednesday. Head coach Brian Daboll shared that the wideout may not travel with the team to Germany for its Week 10 meet-up with the Panthers. Slayton’s status will become imminently clear when the Giants depart on Thursday.
Brown suited up and participated in the Eagles’ practice on Wednesday after suffering a knee injury on Sunday. Fox 29 Philadelphia reporter Howard Eskin wrote on the social media website X that the wide receiver looked unaffected by the injury.
The Buccaneers’ veteran wide receiver won’t play in Sunday’s game against the 49ers as he continues to recover from his hamstring injury. However, Evans was at practice on Wednesday, working with a trainer separately from the rest of the team. With that being the case, he may be on track to make his return after the Bucs’ Week 11 bye.
