It has been a hard season in San Francisco. And the Madman hasn’t helped.
If all the injuries weren’t bad enough, we have unintentionally cursed the rise of Jauan Jennings multiple times this year.
First, when Brandon Aiyuk held out in training camp, we anticipated he would get off to a slow start. Because of multiple layers of history — the 49ers offense being robust, and Jennings reliability to produce when one of the top two San Francisco receivers are out or down — we jumped on the Jennings bandwagon early. And after a monster Week 3 (465 in PPR) it seemed like a sharp take. Only it didn’t last. He turned in back-to-back duds before going down with an injury of his own.
By the time he returned in Week 10, Aiyuk had been lost for the season, so we shouted that Jennings would be an every-week staple in fantasy lineups. And he did well for the first two weeks back.
