CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland Cavaliers games are coming to Prime Video.
Diamond Sports Group, the company that runs FanDuel Sports Network, the television home of 13 NBA teams including the Cavs, announced a deal with Amazon that will make the network available to local customers as an add-on subscription within Prime Video.
“Partnering with Prime Video, one of the largest streaming destinations in the U.S., and making FanDuel Sports Network available as part of their add-on subscriptions, creates a tremendous opportunity for us to expand our reach and better connect with viewers,” said Diamond CEO David Preschlack in a press release. “Our partnerships with Prime Video and FanDuel combine with our agreements with team, league and distribution partners to support a transformative reorganization of our business, and a leading linear and digital offering that will continue driving long-term value and enhanced experiences for our partners and fans.”
The game telecasts will continue to be produced by Diamond, but the new option could be more convenient for fans who are also Amazon subscribers. It isn’t known if the broadcasts will improve on the Prime Video platform. In the past, some viewers have complained about the stability and picture quality of the network’s app, particularly when it was known as Bally Sports.
Diamond didn’t announce when FanDuel Sports Network would be coming to Prime Video nor the price. A standalone subscription currently costs $19.99 per month. The network recently announced a new pay-per-game purchase option starting in December.
Terms of the agreement were also not disclosed. Back in January, Diamond announced that Amazon intended to make a significant, $115 million investment in the company as it looked to emerge from bankruptcy. Amazon, however, nixed those plans in August, Sports Business Journal reported.
