Florida A&M’s 2025 football schedule hasn’t been released yet. But some of its opponents have released their 2025 slates with games versus the Rattlers included. Here’s a look at the matchups.

But the Rattlers’ slate for next season can begin being pieced together.

The FAMU has typically played 11 or 12 regular season games in past years. Eight of the Rattlers’ games have been in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

FAMU football’s 2025 season will be its second year with James Colzie III as head coach.

What FAMU football games have been released already?

Three of the Rattlers’ 2025 matchups have released their schedule for next season.

On Aug. 30, FAMU will travel to Mobile to face Football Bowl Subdivision team South Alabama Jaguars. It’ll be the first time the teams have ever played against each other.

FAMU will be home on Sept. 13 to play against NCAA Division II HBCU Albany State on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium. These teams last met in 2022, when the Rattlers won 23-13 at Bragg.

Albany State’s head coach is FAMU’s former record-setting quarterback Quinn Gray. The FAMU Sports Hall of Famer also spent 2011 to 2014 as FAMU’s associate head coach and offensive coordinator.

The Rattlers are returning to Baton Rouge for their home-and-home SWAC game versus the Southern Jaguars. In 2024, FAMU beat Southern 24-6 at Bragg Stadium to knock off one of its longest-standing rivals for the fifth straight time.

The last time Southern beat FAMU was in the 2012 Atlanta Football Classic, prevailing 21-14.

What could be new about FAMU’s 2025 football schedule?

Since joining the SWAC in 2021, FAMU has played 10 of the other 11 teams in the league.

The lone squad FAMU hasn’t met since coming to the SWAC is Alcorn State.

FAMU may play against the Alcorn State Braves, who play in the SWAC West Division. The last time the Rattlers and Braves played was in 1987 when Alcorn won 17-15.

For the first time since 2018, Jackson State will come to Bragg Stadium to face the Rattlers. When FAMU joined the SWAC, it and Jackson State played at a neutral site for Miami’s Orange Blossom Classic from 2021 to 2023.

Last season, FAMU versus Jackson State became a traditional home game, where the Tigers beat the Rattlers 35-21.

When is FAMU’s homecoming football game? What about the Florida Classic vs Bethune-Cookman?

FAMU hasn’t announced its homecoming dates yet.

However, in recent years, the Rattlers have played their homecoming football game around Halloween. If past seasons are any indicator, there’s a likelihood FAMU will host its homecoming football game on Nov. 1.

As for the Florida Classic rivalry game between FAMU and Bethune-Cookman, no date has been announced yet. But the Florida Classic is usually played the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Look for the Rattlers versus the Wildcats to play in Orlando on Nov. 22.

When will the SWAC, HBCU football postseason start?

The SWAC Championship is scheduled for Dec. 6. The team with the best SWAC record will host the game.

The SWAC title game winner plays the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion in the Celebration Bowl to determine the Black College Football National Champion.

The Celebration Bowl will likely be on Dec. 13 at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
