J.C. Jackson has been suspended by the NFL for the first week of the upcoming regular season. The veteran cornerback, who last played for the New England Patriots in 2023, was found to have violated the league’s personal conduct policy.
The nature of the infraction is not known at this point.
Jackson entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signing by the Patriots in 2018. Developing into one of the best ball-hawks in football and a Pro Bowl selection, he left the team to sign a five-year, $82.5 million contract during the 2022 offseason.
Only 19 months later, Jackson was back in New England. With injuries and performance issues limiting his effectiveness, he was eventually traded back to his old stomping grounds after Christian Gonzalez went down with a season-ending shoulder injury in October 2023. Jackson appeared in eight games with six starts but failed to pick up where he left off.
Eventually, he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list in mid-December. Earlier this offseason, the Patriots decided to release him.
Jackson has been a free agent ever since.
