WIESBADEN, Germany – Job seekers from across the USAG Wiesbaden community made their way to Hainerberg earlier this week to attend the first Army Community Service (ACS) Mini Job Fair of the year.
The ACS Employment Readiness Program (ERP) holds these mini job fairs throughout the year leading to their larger Annual Job Fair in the fall—taking place on Sep. 30 this year at the Hainerberg Exchange.
“[This month’s] event attracted approximately 50 job seekers,” said ERP Manager Earl McFarland, “and featured seven agencies actively looking to fill positions.” Companies present included French Consulting—who frequently hire positions within Wiesbaden ACS programs—the Exchange, Defense Commissary Agency and Sterling Medical who were set-up in the ACS Multipurpose Room to conduct interviews. The event resulted in five on-the-spot job offers.
McFarland also conducted several resume reviews during the event along with ERP Specialist Jasmin Lazo, who also hosts Home-Based Business Information Sharing Sessions as well as other classes catered to job seekers.
The Transition Assistance Program was also present, offering information to Soldiers about to leave service. “Our next job fair will have a lot of contractors seeking transitioning Soldiers,” said McFarland about the upcoming Mini Job Fair on Apr. 1.
“The event provided valuable opportunities for both job seekers and employers, contributing to our community’s employment goals,” he concluded.
