Emma Raducanu is on the worst run of her professional career after suffering a fourth consecutive defeat in the first round of the Qatar Open on Sunday.
The 2021 US Open champion had been given a wild card for the first WTA 1000 tournament of the year — the tier below the four grand slams — but her stay in Doha was brief. Despite battling hard in the second set, she fell to a 6-3, 7-5 loss at the hands of Ekaterina Alexandrova, the world No25 who had lost their most recent meeting in the first round of the Australian Open last month.
