After a bright start Elmer Møller lost his composure against Miomir Kecmanovic and lost 6-3, 2-6, 1-6 as Serbia took a 1-0 lead in the Davis Cup match against Denmark in Copenhagen.
Elmer Møller won a terrific first set, but ended up losing the Davis Cup opening match against the solid Kecmanovic.
The 21-year-old Elmer Møller managed to show almost 10,000 spectators in the Royal Arena that Danish tennis is much more than Holger Rune on Friday afternoon, but in the end it was not enough to win the Davis Cup opening match.
Møller, who is number 149 in the world, shocked otherwise world number 55 Miomir Kecmanovic by winning the first set, but the Serbian fought back to put Serbia 1-0 up in the match by winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Møller was the underdog in the meeting against Kecmanovic, but fought valiantly against the strong opposition.
He played with great risk and often close to the lines with great success. However, Kecmanovic clawed his way back into the game and tipped it in his favour.
Holger Rune will now play against Hamad Medjedovic in the second single of the day. Medjedovic is currently nr. 94 in the world rankings.
