EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Several Eau Claire County roads are now posted and open to ATV/UTV travel.
A social media post from the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office announced today that Eau Claire County roads are now posted and open for use. The post says that this includes the majority of Eau Claire County roads unless they are posted otherwise.
The agency included a reminder that this applies only to Eau Claire County roads and not local township roads. For more information about which township roads are open to ATV/UTV use, travelers are advised to contact their local township.
The map included in the post shows roads open to ATV/UTV traffic in green.
Eau Claire County ordinance requires ATV/UTVs to travel on the pavement and stay on the furthest right side of the road. The speed limit for ATV/UTVs is 35 mph or the posted speed limit of the roadway if it is less than 35 mph.
“All laws for ATV/UTV’s under Wisconsin State Statue 23.33 apply and will be enforced on Eau Claire County routes and trails,” the sheriff’s office writes.
The agency asks that any questions related to ATV/UTV operation or laws be directed to Recreation Deputy Mark Bull at mark.bull@eauclairecounty.gov.
