We’ve all been there. That targeted ad hits just right, but you don’t want to pay full price. Even when the big shopping holidays come around, I always look for the biggest money-saving combination I can find.
Fortunately for my fellow online shoppers, it’s pretty easy to be a savvy shopper and find easy ways to save some extra cash, and all it requires is a few strokes of your keyboard and clicks of the mouse.

Do an online search with the store’s name and “coupon codes” to see what pops up. Some websites compile different coupon codes for you to try or show some of the store’s current offers and promotions.
There’s no guarantee the code will work, but the extra effort is often worth it to find additional savings.
Services like Honey and Rakuten offer cash back for shopping on some websites. Sometimes, they can scan the web for coupons for you.
These sites also offer browser plugins that you can download, so anytime you visit a website that offers cash back or has coupons, it will automatically tell you.

Some companies offer a discount for joining their mailing list. Plus, they might also send coupons for your birthdays, the holidays, or just because.
It’s also worth checking their social media feeds and stories for any special promos they might be offering their followers.
Many big name stores will price match a competitor.
Some stores offer discounts for military members, first responders, teachers and more. You can also use them when shopping online, with help from sites like ID.me.
If you’re willing to wait a little longer, a price tracker can help you land the lowest price.
Services like camelcamelcamel.com and browser plugins like Honey can show you the price history of an item, so it’s easy to compare the current price with what it previously cost.
You can also set a tracker and be notified when the price drops. If you use the Chrome browser, look for the shopping bag icon in the address bar when you’re online shopping.
