More likely than not, this will be the only season Notre Dame fans get to see Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles on the court together. An injury to Miles kept her out all of Hidalgo’s freshman season. But they have more than made up for lost time this season.
Hidalgo and Miles are two of 50 players who have been named to the midseason watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. This is a newer award that first was given in 2018 by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, or USBWA. It goes to the best shooting guard in the country.
The winner will be announced during this year’s Final Four, and the trophy will be awarded at a luncheon soon after. Chances are it could be USC’s JuJu Watkins again as she won the award last season. But that doesn’t mean either Hidalgo or Miles have to be ruled out, especially when they have games like this together:
Best of luck to both players as they continue to make their respective cases for the award.
